Just a short time ago, Fatwa-Online was informed of the official decision and announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia that since the moon of Ramadhaan was sighted this evening, here in Saudi Arabia, we have completed thirty (30) days of Sha’baan (1438 A.H.), in accordance with the hadeeth of the Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu `alayhi wa sallam):
«Fast when you see the crescent [of Ramadhaan]. If it is obscured to you, then complete thirty days of Sha’baan. And break your fast when you see the crescent [of Shawwaal]. If it is obscured to you then fast thirty days», [transmitted by al-Bukhaaree and Muslim].
Subsequently, we shall be starting our taraaweeh prayers tonight (Friday 26 May, 2017) after the ‘Ishaa. prayer, in preparation for the first fast of Ramadhaan tomorrow – Saturday 27 May, 2017, in shaa.-Allaah.

With blessings of Allah (subhaanahu wata'ala), first day of Ramadhan will be on 27th May 2017 (1 Ramadhan 1438 A.H.), it depends on the moon. In shaa allah.

Just a short time ago, Fatwa-Online was informed of the official decision and announcement of the High Judiciary Council (HJC) of Saudi Arabia regarding the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah.
1 Dhul-Hijjah will be on Saturday 3 September 2016, and the Muslims performing Hajj will be in ‘Arafah on Sunday 11 September 2016 (9 Dhul-Hijjah 1437), and we shall be celebrating ‘Eed al-Adhaa on Monday 12 September 2016, (10 Dhul-Hijjah 1437), in shaa.-Allaah.
The Prophet (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
"The people of each household should offer an [‘Eed] sacrifice every year" –
transmitted by Ahmad, 20207. al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar said in Fat.hul-Baaree: ‘Its isnaad is strong.’ It is classed as Hasan by al-Albaanee in Saheeh Sunan Abee Daawood, 2788.
The Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) also said:
"Whoever can afford it but does not offer a sacrifice, let him not come near our place of prayer"
transmitted by Ibn Maajah, 3123; classed as Hasan by al-Albaanee in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.
